It is the oldest cast-iron bridge in Romania and the point where the Upper and Lower Towns meet.
About the place
The bridge was cast in 1859 at a foundry in Hesse and laid over the old Burgergasse, today Strada Ocnei. Before that, the way into the citadel ran through a tunnel under a row of houses. It has been a listed monument since 2015.
The bridge leads onto the Small Square, lined with houses with arcades at street level. The Casa Artelor, Casa Luxemburg and several cafés are here. From the bridge you look down Strada Ocnei towards the Lower Town.

- Come early in the morning, when it is less crowded.
- Legend says the bridge creaks if someone lies while standing on it.
