Noica worked here in the last years of his life, in the time of the 'Păltiniș School'.
About the place
Noica spent the last years of his life in Păltiniș. He lived first in Villa 23, demolished in 1990, and then in Villa 12, from 1984 to 1987. In 2000 the Humanitas-Aqua Forte Foundation bought Villa 12 and restored it. Noica's room was kept as it was on the day he died, and the other three rooms became study rooms.
The cabin is not a museum. According to an article on the foundation's website, young doctoral students in philosophy stay here. You can see Noica's room only when they are there and willing to show you in.
Good to know
- There are no visiting hours; respect the quiet of those studying.
- The cabin is hidden among fir trees with no clear sign, reviews say; use the map.
- Combine the visit with the hermitage, where Noica is buried.
