It takes you from the resort to the Cindrel ridge in 2 to 2.5 hours, on a route rated easy.
About the place
The trail starts at the chairlift station and follows the county road for 200 m. It then drops through spruce forest towards the Dorul Clujului spring and climbs through the Găujoara meadow to Șaua Bătrâna saddle on the main ridge. It is 5.8 km long, climbs 499 m and reaches 1,863 m. It takes 2 to 2.5 hours and is rated easy.
The marking is a red cross. At the saddle you meet the ridge trail, marked with a red stripe, from where you can climb Vârful Bătrâna or Vârful Surdu. In winter the trail can only be done with full winter gear.
Good to know
- Start in the morning and check the forecast: the trail climbs to the ridge, above 1,800 m.
- Bring water and food. Along the way there are benches and a spring by a sheepfold.
- In winter go only with winter gear and tell someone which route you are taking.
