About the place

The hermitage was founded by Metropolitan Nicolae Bălan. The church, built of fir wood, went up between 1925 and 1927 and is dedicated to the Transfiguration, celebrated on 6 August. The iconostasis was made in 1944–1945. The hermitage stands at about 1,350 m, at the entrance to the resort.

Constantin Noica died on 4 December 1987 and was buried here on 6 December, as he had wished. The service was led by Metropolitan Antonie Plămădeală. The grave is right next to the church.
